Like a lot of people who can’t cut through the walls to mount a TV or speakers, I want a neat and clean home theater experience without a bunch of wires or speaker cabinets in view. So onto my list goes Soundmatters’ SLIMstage40 surround bar speaker. Soundmatters has managed to fit an entire surround-sound system—including a 170-watt amplifier, four satellite speakers and nine bass drivers—into a 39-inch-long bar. Proprietary digital signal processing simulates a 5.1-channel surround-sound experience that isn’t just for music. There’s also a front-panel input, so I can plug in my iPod.
