Rebecca - Sony HES-V1000

I have run out of space. Either the cats or the CDs must go, so sign me up for the Sony HES-V1000 Home Entertainment server. It will store the 200 DVDs and Blu-ray Discs (or CDs) I want to keep in its changer and convert hundreds of CDs to MP3s on its 500-GB hard drive. The server will also sock away a bunch of my digital pics, so it’s like having a backup photo album. There are CompactFlash, SD, xD and Memory Stick slots. There’s enough room for 137 hours of video, 40,000 songs or 20,000 digital photos. It won’t make a mess, either, because I’ll connect it to the receiver via a single HDMI cable. And I can stream it wirelessly to any DLNA-compatible device in the home.

Price: $3,500
