Lisa - Samsung’s 94 Wireless Plasma

If there’s one thing that gets me riled up at Christmas, it’s trying to break apart all that annoying packaging. Then there are the toys you need an engineering degree to assemble. After hours of opening, building and fixing stuff, I want something easy for myself. Samsung’s 94 series of plasma TVs satisfies my craving by doing away with most of the wiring required to get a TV up and running. The flat-panel HDTV uses wireless 802.11n technology to pick up HD signals from a receiver that can be placed anywhere in the home. My high-definition DVD player (see my DVD player entry), VCR, and cable receiver with DVR connect directly to the receiver. As for size, the 50-inch model is plenty big for me. $3,599, www.samsung.com
