Doesn’t appear to be much in this room, but there’s a 103-inch, 485-pound Panasonic plasma hanging out inside the ceiling. Art Walker at Activate Designs built a pretty standard but heavy-duty lift that uses a rack-and-pinion like mechanism to lower the plasma from a 4-by-10-foot wall cavity in the room’s ceiling. The lift lowers the plasma in place in about 10 seconds, using hydraulics so the beast doesn’t sound like a freight train when it lowers.
