Fantastic Fusion

Briefly describe the objectives in creating this theater.
This movie industry mogul’s vacation home was literally designed around their planned private theater, which was intended to serve as the home’s defining feature. Upon entry to the home, one immediately encounters the theater marquis. The theater’s objectives match the prominent placement. Performance expectations were equally weighted with the ergonomic and aesthetic character of the room. Functional performance goals included:

Reference quality audio and video performance for a nearly 800 square foot. room for movie and musical media
Professional level video editing and monitoring capabilities for renowned videographer
Acoustically engineered for studio noise more than 20dB and accurate sound field for critical listening
Integrated interior architecture consistent with the home’s world-class tropical design

What technical features are notable in this project?
Meeting these objectives called for a highly technical design. The quiet room design includes fully decoupled construction with inner shell framing with resilient inside walls for extended low frequency extension. The quiet room design extends to decoupled underlayment at the hard surface flooring above as well.
