The Gold Standard

Briefly describe the objectives in creating this theater.
We originally met with this customer in mid August of 2009. Unfortunately their basement had flooded from a heavy rain storm and faulty sump pump. Their original goal was to repair the damage in the basement. While interviewing the client we discovered the family’s love of the theater, and the husband’s love of all things electronic. We suggested our plan of not only repairing the damage to the basement and protect it from happening again, but also to design and install their dream home theater. One catch on their end, the entire project had to be completed by the end of September for their daughter’s birthday party.

What technical features are notable in this project?
The clients wanted some specific things incorporated into their design:

*A removable dance floor
*An outlet in the ceiling for removable disco lights
*A stage for their children’s performances
*A hidden video port for the children’s video games
*A floating star field ceiling
*A laptop to stream Bollywood movies
*A state-of-the-art AV system that incorporated a curved 2:35 screen *Seating for at least ten people
*A way of alerting those in the theater that the doorbell was ringing
