Simple Elegance

Briefly describe the objectives in creating this theater.
The client was looking to convert an unused billiards room with a TV into a dedicated theater with seating. The client wanted to keep a simple look that continued with the design of the house since the theater was open to the basement. The client wanted a way to easily close the room off when in use but also keep it open when they entertained.

What technical features are notable in this project?
The custom built proscenium was constructed to house the left and right speakers along with the two Sunfire HRS subwoofers. The in-wall center channel was hidden behind the acoustically transparent screen to maximize the viewing distance. The proscenium features interchangeable panels to allow the installation of extra speakers for the height channels if the client wishes to expand the system. The overall flow of the basement spaces from bar to media room to wine cellar create a fun atmosphere. The RTI control system was customized even on a moderate budget with custom welcome graphics and the ability to control the media room and exercise room as well. We upgraded the video functionality of the existing media room from DVD and VCR to Blu-Ray, Apple TV, and Vudu.
