Finishing Touches

Briefly describe the objectives in creating this theater.
We had just completed a home automation system in the rest of the home when the client expressed an interest in finishing the basement. Their goals were simple. Create an area where the children could play and entertain friends while adding a private movie theater. We were to build a 7.1 theater with two rows of seating, lighting control, HVAC control, a projector, and a 110” screen with a strict budget.

What technical features are notable in this project?
For this project, the client wanted to use an MX3000 remote control which was an outdated model, but they insisted because of familiarity. The rear and surround speakers were installed in-wall, and the walls then wrapped with acoustic fabric for a clean look. Only the source components reside in the room, and the processor and amplifiers are remote located in a mechanical room rack. This presented some challenges to us and the wiring had to be planed out carefully.
