Presto - computerless email

Presto makes the leading “computer-less email” machine on the market, according to CEO Peter Radsliff, a former executive with Monster Cable.

The simple unit converts emails and attachments into electronic letters, and transmits them over a phone line to a loved one’s residence. Presto does the work on the back end, providing the end user with an email address; transforming emailed messages and photos into printable, full-color letters; and automatically retrieving messages for delivery over the phone lines.

Presto focuses on just the basics, so the machine is one-way only. According to Radsliff, Presto’s beta testing research showed that sending outgoing messages wasn’t attractive to elderly users who told them they would rather just pick up the phone. The service costs $15 per month and the machine can be had for as little as $50.
