Mastervoice Butler-in-a-Box

Mastervoice: the company everyone loved to hate.

Founder Gus Searcy boasted incessantly that his voice-enabled Butler-in-a-Box home control system was flawless, and he had plenty of excuses when it was yanked from a progressive new home community.

Even so, Mastervoice was a pioneer in home control, and it wasn’t until Home Automated Living (HAL) emerged in the mid-90s that we had another serious attempt at voice-enabled home automation.
