InFocus SP777

It may not be a brand new offering, but the $5,000 price drop on the InFocus SP777 is worthy of mention. Sporting a curvy and high-gloss black and silver chassis, the SP777 is equipped with an enhanced Faroudja DCDi video deinterlacer to deliver 72p video. What’s that you say, only 720p? How jaded we have become almost overnight. The SP777 uses a 3-chip design where a single DMD is used for each primary color: red, green and blue. There are those who will argue that a 720p resolution using a three-chip design will provide a far superior image than a single chip 1080p display. We’ll leave the debate for another day but even a 720p projector will allow you to fully enjoy the advantages of all HD broadcasts and the new generation of high-def source devices such as Blu-ray and HD-DVD. With a 5,000:1 contrast ratio, images are sure to be crisp and life-like (even with a little ambient light).  Vertical lens shift provides additional installation flexibility, such as above or below the screen placement. An unusual feature is a proprietary connector that takes the place of HDMI or DVI inputs. Adaptors are required for use with either DVI or HDMI cables.
