Panasonic's SC-BTX70 Blu-ray System

I have yet to invest in a Blu-ray player, but when I do, this new model ($999.95) from Panasonic would be my choice. In addition to spinning Blu-ray discs, there’s a dock for my iPod behind a sliding door. A built-in SD memory card slot is also available for viewing photos and movies from my digital still and video camera.

It comes with two speakers and a subwoofer, but sounds more like a 7.1 system thanks to the use of virtual surround-sound technology. It’ll be far easier to find the room for two speakers in my family room than it would for seven.
