Wiring Enclosure Disaster

A hurricane blew through this Wallace, N.C. home and flooded the downstairs. The wiring disaster, however, was created by someone after the flood.

“It was pretty bad,” says Mike Hayes of Port City Sound & Security. “The upstairs was fun, too. Up there, they were using coaxial as speaker wire.”

Hayes says the wiring enclosure hadn’t even been fastened to the wall. “There was an extension cord powering the enclosure, too. So, there were code issues as well,” he says. “The labeling was done with Scotch tape.”

The day took one and a half days to complete. Hayes took one walkie-talkie and a technician took the other. “We were able to identify every single piece of wire going through that place.”
