Fixing a Bird's Nest

Erik Hord, COO of Modern Home Systems, was happy with his home systems, just not the bird’s nest under the stairs.

Hord bought the house after it was wired by another company. “If the company that wired my house had given a damn about what it looked like, it might have taken him just a few more hours to make it look right.”

David Marrs, Modern Home Systems’ lead technician was called in to fix the mess. “I think we kind of knew we had to do it at some point,” Marrs says. “Almost everyone in our office was dreading that panel. It’s one of the worst I’ve ever seen.”

The panel was located in a tight space under the basement stairs. “Wires were coming in from the bottom, the top,” Marrs explains. “There were different types of wires, nothing color-coded.”
