Neil Young, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere

Neil Young’s equally comfortable strumming some quiet acoustic melodies or plugging in and ripping some electric guitar. Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere came along around the same time he was waxing melodic with Crosby, Stills and Nash, and he took the opportunity to change the pace a little.

Neil tended to rev things up a bit when joined by Crazy Horse, and this could be his most rockin’ effort. We know he’s a stickler for sound quality, as evidenced by his affinity for Blu-ray and its ability to present high-resolution audio in 24-bit/96-kHz or 24/192 format. This disc offers epic grooves such as “Down By the River” and “Cowgirl in the Sand,” and flat-out electrifying riffs like “Cinnamon Girl” that may be more well suited for old-school, visceral vinyl playback.

Signature Test Track: “Down by the River” Fire this one up and sit back for the next 10 minutes to soak in the groove. Dark in its lyrics, follow the dark bass and guitar grooves built to match the atmosphere. You’ll be tapping your feet as it slowly builds to a crescendo.
