John Mayer 'Where the Light Is'

John Mayer ‘Where the Light Is: Live in Los Angeles’
Sony, 164 minutes, 1.78:1
Dolby TrueHD 5.1, PCM 2.0 (96kHz, 24-bit)

Toss aside John Mayer’s pop radio airplay and his overexposure as a Jennifer Aniston dater, as an up-and-coming performer he’s one of the more talented guys out there today. He can play guitar with the best of them, as he’s shown at Clapton’s Crossroads guitar festival. Here he’s in an intimate setting and rolling out 22 songs that run from ballad to blaring, without even relying on mega-hit No Such Thing (absent here) to show off his skills. Mayer’s CDs are generally outstanding from an audio quality perspective, and the TrueHD mix here doesn’t disappoint.
