3. Giants Freeze Packers
It was a playoff game John Facenda would have loved—exciting for just about every minute and played on really, really frozen tundra. The NFC title game in Green Bay eventually came down to a Brett Favre mistake and a Giants winning field goal in overtime that sent them to the Super Bowl in Arizona (and about an 80 degree temperature change). The previous week’s snow game between the Packers and Seahawks would definitely make my top 20, but Fox’s excellent coverage of this game—especially shots of Tom Coughlin’s face as it got redder and redder—made us all feel a little frostbite. That plus the drama gives this one the nod.
