Braveheart

Mel Gibson’s epic tale (1995) of William Wallace would be a visual treat. Sure, every action sequence would benefit from the Blu treatment, but I’m talking about the entire movie. The stunning vistas of the Scottish and Irish countryside are well deserving of the bump to HD.

Scene Stealer – One of the benefits to Blu-ray is the dramatic increase in detail it offers. Movies that have scenes with hundreds of extras, such as Braveheart, stand to gain a lot from that increase. With this in mind, I think the scene where Wallace is giving the movie’s climatic speech would be a great HD showcase. It features the lush green countryside mentioned before, but also hundreds of extras on both sides of the battlefield that should become much clearer on Blu-ray. This should be a great disc to show friends the difference between standard and HD.
