This might seem a bit odd on a list like this, but this was the show of the 90s. It won 16 Emmys, spawned two feature films and is generally considered one of the best science fiction TV shows of all time. The writing and production values were very advanced for the time and you could argue that its mythology-based storyline was responsible for today’s serial hits like “Lost” and “Alias.” Lots of dark scenes would put your display through its paces, and it would be interesting to see if the original 4:3 aspect would be kept for the early episodes (please) and if a remixed 5.1 soundtrack would be added to replace the standard DVD’s stereo track (pretty please).
Scene Stealer – Hard to pull one scene out of nine years of shows, but how about the second show “Paper Clip” of the third season. Near the end of that episode, Agents Mulder and Scully find themselves in an abandoned warehouse. The scene features a creepy, shadowy chase of little green men and culminates in the appearance of a UFO. It shows off all the great production values, lots of great action and great sound.
