Curt Fluegel’s underground bunker stole one of our 2008 Home of the Year awards, as well as our envy. Technically, this area is under the three-car garage, but Curt dug deep to keep the peace with his family life, all while being able to test the limits of 7,000 watts of surround sound. Aside from an acoustically transparent screen, a faux rear wall and new walls in the front, Curt added a the Digital Projection dVision 1080p projector, a Halcro preamp/processor, six Triad Gold speakers, and four Triad Platinum subwoofers. All of it is aided by the AMX Modero touchscreen. Sure it’s a lot, but we love it—and he gets to blame his obsession on his day job, as co-owner of Trikin Home Theater.
