Unlike the commands that control the battery-operated shades, light switches and thermostats, signals from the audio and video gear travel to the TVs and built-in Sonance speakers via cabling. The conduits that were installed into this home’s 11 prefabricated modules served as avenues for installers at the Hunter Group to fish the audio and video distribution cabling. Of course, that cabling would need to support the green theme. RoHS-compliant cabling from Ice Cable Systems, Los Angeles, was chosen. Adhering to RoHS standards, the cabling was manufactured to be environmentally friendly through restrictions on the use of lead, cadmium, mercury and other hazardous materials.
