The Swans 6.1 has an externally mounted tweeter. It has been our experience that mounting the tweeter on top of the speaker improves the sense of spaciousness in the sound. Normally, with conventional speakers, you achieve this effect by moving the speaker out into the room away from the walls. In the real world however, this is not always possible and the top mounted tweeter helps when you have to position the speaker closer to the rear wall.
The midrange is handled by a 5 ¼ inch Kevlar/paper driver. The midrange is liquid and distinct but at the same time it is a lion when it comes to playing high volume levels which often happens in home theater movies.
The bass is reproduced by two 8-inch metal cone woofers. They are fast and light but at the same time very rigid. This driver rocks when it comes to dynamics. Bass is tight and articulate.
