SolaraSound SolaTube

Classic tech, meet high tech. Vacuum tube technology may be over a century old, but that hasn’t kept the SolaTube from rocking out the current top 10 or anything else on your iPod. The vacuum tube looks funky, and sounds funky too—delivering analog sound clarity with a power output at 25 watts per channel, a 20Hz-20 kHz frequency response and ≥86 db signal to noise ratio. It works well with a larger system, or plays nicely on its own, with a pair of bookshelf speakers that feature a 4-inch glass fiber midrange and a 1-inch tweeter housed in a fancy gloss piano finish enclosure. The music may move you, but that’s the extent of your energy you’ll have to expend; it also comes with an 18-key remote.

Price: $799
