Acoustic Research blackVault AR4131

Audiovox was wise to snatch up Acoustic Research; take a look at what they’re cranking out (and up) with the blackVault AR4131. It looks like a slick set of desktop computer speakers; however, the blackVault packs the high-end audio punch you may require when not sweating to the oldies. As the exposed vacuum tube atop the subwoofer fills with light blue, your ears will fill with killer sound—and yes, it’s coming from your iPod. The sub also has a 30-pin connector to accommodate almost any of the latest iPod models. Like most stand-alone docks, the AR4131 charges up any docked iPod. Unlike most tube units, this 2.1 speaker system doesn’t cost as much as five iPods combined. The price is almost as eye-catching as the glossy black package, which also comes with an auxiliary input cable, a remote, and a spare vacuum tube.

Price: $199.99
