“We are firing up a roof-top theater complete with an outdoor projector for a Super Bowl party,” says Steve Riley, principal partner at Atlantic Control Technologies in Annapolis, Maryland. “However, I doubt it will be the main TV watched, just because of the cold weather.”
Riley says that his company installed a Vutec retractable screen, which is permanently mounted in the soffit of his client’s roof-top terrace. “The screen material is made of virgin vinyl, so it won’t mildew. However, one of the challenges was coming up with clever way to easily tie down the bottom of the screen when in use, so that it wouldn’t move with the wind.”
While Vutec makes several screens that would fit the bill, the company’s Lectric II-C has plenum-rated housing and an interface with low voltage relays, IR, RF and RS-232 controls. It’s also available in sizes up to 320 inches diagonal.
