This isn’t the Ron Howard/Jim Carrey live-action film. It’s the original—the one that’s actually worth watching. It’s also the second animated entry on our list and a lot creepier than Charlie Brown, thanks to the vocals of Boris Karloff and a main character cursed with a heart that’s “two sizes too small.” Still, the sentiment is the same and this is one you’ll want in your high-def holiday rotation.
The 2-disc release has a 1.37:1 image, a lone Dolby Digital 2.0 track, and a hearty collection of extras. That crop includes TNT’s “special” version, an audio commentary, something about the songs, multiple other shorts and both DVD and digital copies of the special.
