My Big Fat Greek Wedding

This 2002 comedy is celebrating its 10th anniversary. However, HBO is the one that comes bearing gifts, giving this sleeper hit its very first Blu-ray release. The indie film was a surprise in more ways than one, delivering a very funny, romantic tale of a woman (Nia Vardalos) who falls in love with a man (John Corbett)—who just happens to not be Greek. Opa!

Having a Blu-ray release is probably better than nothing at all. However, HBO’s 2-disc set is slightly disappointing. The 1.78:1 aspect ratio is just barely above DVD quality and the DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track is anything but memorable. As far as the extras, the winner is a new 30-minute retrospective with the film’s two leads. Otherwise, there are weak deleted scenes, a 2002 commentary track, a standard-def DVD and a Digital Copy of the movie.

Rating: PG
Runtime: 95 minutes
