This Oscar winner is a must-own release, if not just for its impressive cast. That includes Alec Guinness, Anthony Quinn, Omar Sharif, José Ferrer and Claude Rains, in case you’re taking inventory. Peter O’Toole is the star here, though, playing T. E. Lawrence, a British officer who unites Arabia’s desert tribes against the Turks during World War I.
Fans of the classics will approve of this restored 2.20:1 aspect ratio, as well as the DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. Also, since this is a 50th anniversary release, you can expect quite a few extras, including a new interview with O’Toole, an hour-long documentary, a piece about the camels, and much more. The 2-disc version has two Blu-ray discs, as well as an UltraViolet Digital Copy. There’s also a 4-disc Collector’s Set, with an extra Blu-ray, a soundtrack CD, a film cell, and a coffee table book.
Rating: PG
Runtime: 227 minutes
Total Number of Discs: 2 (or 4 for the Collector’s Set)
