House, M.D.: Season Eight

Dr. Gregory House’s (Hugh Laurie) swansong starts off in jail. Hey, that sounds a lot better than the show’s finale, which is titled “Everybody Dies.” Before that happens, however, you can expect a ton of medical mysteries to pop up, as House tries to adjust to his new crew and life without Cuddy.

The 1.78:1 aspect ratio offers a nice upgrade over what you’ve seen on TV, especially when it comes to close-ups. The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track has a few surprises as well. The extras are really where this set sort of falters. There’s no episode commentary and no deleted scenes; all of the extras on this 5-disc set are on disc number five, with two 45-minute documentaries and a piece on making the last episode. The shorts are all good, but we were expecting a little more considering the show’s lengthy existence.
