The Dictator

Sasha Baron Cohen’s latest is a real raunchfest—and that really says something, considering the guy gave us movies like Borat and Bruno. Here he plays the title character, who ends up working in a New York City co-op after a failed assassination attempt. Cohen does his best to offend at every turn, with mixed results. It’s certainly not for the squeamish.

It is for people that can appreciate a good image, though. The 2.40:1 aspect ratio is pretty sharp, and the DTS-HD Master Audio handles the dialogue and booming soundtrack just fine. The real disappointment of this set is its lack of extras. Besides the standard-def DVD and UltraViolet Digital Copy, the 2-disc set has an “unrated version,” deleted scenes, a music video and 3 minutes more of Cohen’s character sitting down with Larry King.

Rating: R
Runtime: 83 minutes (theatrical), 98 minutes (unrated)
