Here’s another double shot of Disney packed into one release. The princess Pocahontas shares her Blu-ray debut with Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World. The Oscar-winning original focus around the title character (voiced by Irene Bedard) and her meeting with Captain John Smith (Mel Gibson).
Expect Disney to deliver on this one, with a beautiful 1.85:1 aspect ratio and an equally nice DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. The 3-disc set includes standard-def DVDs for each movie, but the Blu-ray has a few features, including commentary, a piece about the music, a deleted song, deleted scenes, and the short “Little Hiawatha.” The latter is important because it served as the inspiration for these movies. In return, it also gets its own featurette titled, “Drawing Inspiration: The Lost Story of Hiawatha.”
