A lot of people may not realize it, but the line noise they hear … specifically the 60Hz hum they hear in their audio systems is the result of a ground loop. The safest and best way to cure ground-loop issues is to use a device called an insulation transformer. Tripp Lite’s IS 1000 Isolation Transformer provides protection from power spikes; it filters EMI/RFI noise and most importantly to those who suffer from ground loops, it isolates plugged in devices to provide a hum-free solution for HDTVs, cable boxes, Blu-ray players, Apple TVs and other electronics. I employed the IS 1000 in my home theater and it delivered the results I needed to eliminate a ground-loop issue that I suffered with from for years. The IS 1000 incorporates an internal transformer with Faraday shields, four NEMA 5-15P receptacles and a hard wired 6-foot power cord. The best thing about the IS 1000, it’s a $299 DIY solution that saves the expense of hiring an electrician to install a dedicated outlet.
