Two of John Cusack’s best hit Blu-ray this week and we need to take notice. Grosse Point Blank was a really interesting take on the rom-com, with Cusack playing a hit man en route to his high school reunion. Throw in a super-cool soundtrack and Dan Aykroyd and you’ve got something truly special.
A few years later, Cusack starred in High Fidelity, a love letter to the actor’s favorite music wrapped in a love letter to former girlfriends. Jack Black, Lisa Bonet, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Lili Taylor are in tow—and there’s even a hilarious butt-kicking for Tim Robbins.
Both films come packing a fine 1.85:1 aspect ratio, but the DTS-HD Master Audio track on each is the true standout. Sadly, neither release has much in the way of new extras; Grosse Point gets a trailer with High Fidelity adding in deleted scenes and old conversations with Cusack and director Stephen Frears.
