It’s hard to believe that some studios still don’t release certain titles on Blu-ray—or at least this title. We wanted to give a special shout-out to one new release, which is only available on standard-def DVD.
If you aren’t watching Parenthood, season three probably isn’t the best place to start. That said, Parenthood: Season Three is our DVD pick of the week simply for the fact that it’s the best show you’re probably not watching. This look at a rather large family seems very real, almost annoyingly so. It also has one of the best casts on TV, including Peter Krause, Lauren Graham, Dax Shepard, Monica Potter, Erika Christensen, Sam Jaeger, Joy Bryant, Mae Whitman, Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson. And that list doesn’t even include most the kids and cameos that pop up in every episode.
If you’re a follower (and you should be), this is a set worth picking up. Besides the season’s 18 episodes, the 4-disc collection includes deleted scenes and commentary on two episodes. The real gem, however, is a whole deleted storyline (!), which allows Drew (Miles Heizer) to get the spotlight for a change.
