Evita: 15th Anniversary Edition

You may want to cry for this 15th anniversary edition; it’s not such a great one. Madonna did a very nice job as Argentina’s first lady, Eva Perón. Antonio Banderas also appears in the 1996 hit. The film pulls out all of the stops, music-wise, with Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice working together. That collaboration snagged an Oscar for Best Song.

Like Newsies, this single-disc release doesn’t seem like much of a celebration. It has a 2.35:1 aspect ratio and a mere Dolby Digital Surround track. Meh. Also, the extras include a teaser trailer, a music video for Madonna’s winning song “You Must Love Me,” and a short making-of featurette.

Rating: PG
Runtime: 135 minutes
