Cisco says that by 2019 we’ll see a 20-times increase in home networking speeds. And by 2019, 11 petabytes (a petabyte is 1,000 terabytes) of memory will be available for about $100. “We are massively increasing the amount of data and the amount of data we can store in consumers’ homes,” Pedigo says,

What does this mean? Super hi-res 4K video isn’t just a video manufacturer’s pipe dream. It can greatly assist in producing high-quality autostereoscopic (glasses-free) 3D. “Quietly we are hearing content providers starting to consider ways to bring 4K to the home,” Pedigo says. “And HDMI announced last week a new spec to increase bandwidth on a cable.”

By 2015, video calling will also be pervasive.
