Beyond The Connected Home

“We’re just starting to get in the real connected home,” says Pedigo. “Not only are we going to go to the connected home, we’re going to beyond it,” to what he calls an intuitive home that will anticipate what we want and deliver it. Think of it as home automation to the set-it-and-forget-it stage.

Networking and Internet Protocol (IP) will be pervasive, meaning many of your home systems components will connect over Ethernet—we are already clearly heading there— bi-directional or two-way data will be overflowing, there will be aggregation of data, and all things will revolve around mobility—as in, yes, smartphone control. If we still have smartphones.
