URC MXW-920 Water-Resistant Remote Control

MSRP: $499.00
Ship date: 12/1/2011

The MXW-920 is URC’s first water-resistant remote control. URC performed extensive testing of the MXW-920’s water-resistant capabilities; the final result was a water resistance rating of JIS Class 4, IP-class 54, which means that splashing water from any direction will have no effect on the MX-920. The MX-920 can also withstand dust deposits. The MXW-920 features a monochrome LCD that displays text. A one-way RF remote control, the MXW-920 is powered by four AAA alkaline batteries.

Features

Almost all remote controls available from manufacturers of universal remotes, as well as component manufacturers, are not meant to get wet. For many years, this wasn't much of an issue, as remote controls rarely left the media room. In today's world, however, with homeowners using remotes to control their multi-zone audio systems, climate settings, lighting and more, a water-resistant remote is a valuable commodity. Homeowners want full control of their electronic houses from anywhere on the property, and conditions aren't always dry. This is especially true in kitchens, bathrooms, dining rooms and, of course, outside on the patio or near the pool. With the RF-enabled MXW-920, homeowners not only don't need to point the remote at any particular component, but they also don't need to worry about getting the remote wet from splashing water, spilled drinks, or raindrops. If the MXW-920 gets wet, all the user needs to do is wipe it dry, no worries. Even when wet, however, the MXW-920 continues to work.

Benefits

With the MXW-920, the homeowner no longer needs to worry about keeping the remote control in a dry place. Users can confidently place the MXW-920 on kitchen counters, dinner tables, and bathroom vanities, as well as poolside or on patio tables. When the MXW-920 gets wet, all the user needs to do is dry it off, although it still operates when wet, too. The MXW-920 operates anywhere on the homeowner's property using radio frequency (RF) technology, so the user doesn't need to point the remote at anything, such as a TV or AV receiver. Just select a device, enter your commands and the MXW-920 takes care of the rest.
