Kaleidescape App for iPad

MSRP: $0.00

With the Kaleidescape App for iPad, you can browse your entire movie collection in the most convenient and fluid manner possible, using a combination of familiar iPad features as well as some unique innovations:

1. Our unique “in-place details” design lets you see expanded details for a movie during scrolling. This innovative user interface concept also allows you to browse movie details one at a time using a single tap, without losing your place in the movie list.

2. Our unique slide-out panels let you choose from a list of play items (e.g., scenes) for the selected movie. You can choose an item and play it on the big screen - all without opening a separate view and losing your place in the movie list.

3. When the app launches another app, such as a browser, it does so with a return button that returns you right back to the same location. There’s no cumbersome switching between apps.

4. The app automatically detects when a Crestron, AMX or Control4 system is used for volume control, and adds volume up/down buttons to the user interface - without any configuration required within the app.

5. The transport control panel appears only when a movie is playing, maximizing the space available to display the movie list. Volume controls are always displayed (when a control system is present.)

The Kaleidescape App for iPad dramatically changes the way you interact with your movies and music, and gives you a more intensely emotional connection than ever before.

See it in action

The app can function as a simple remote control, but the difference really starts when you begin to have fun with your movies and music. Be the "DJ" and entertain family and friends and entertain by showing the best of your collection. The app provides instant access to the best scenes and songs. Whether it's the classic "Here's Looking at You, Kid," or a great song from Chris Botti in Boston on Blu-ray, you can browse for the next scene or song while everyone else is enjoying what's playing on the screen. This was never possible with a traditional remote control!

Need help picking something to watch? Integrated into the app are movie ratings from Rotten Tomatoes and information for parents from Common Sense Media, so you can make better movie-watching choices for your family. The app also helps you to explore your collection. Recognize an actor but can't remember his name? Want to see if he's in any of your other movies? With the app, the answers are just a few taps away. If it's Tom Hanks night in your home, filter down to just the movies starring him or created by him. If you're in the mood for some Star Wars, search in the app and all your Star Wars movies will be displayed. Search by title, actor, director, or genre; or listen to The Beatles or Mozart while reading more about them: the Kaleidescape App for iPad always has you covered.

The Kaleidescape System changes the way that you enjoy movies, and the new iPad app truly delivers on this promise.

More Fun: Scene and song surfing gives you a fantastic new way to enjoy your movies, and also makes a great demonstration tool! Pick an action scene - it starts instantly. Switch to a song from a Blu-ray concert in seconds, not minutes. You have complete control of everything in your collection.

Installation: The app automatically finds your Kaleidescape System on the network, and discovers all your players (zones).

Configuration: Zones can be hidden, which is especially useful when you want to dedicate an iPad to one of many rooms in a large home or yacht.

Cost: The iPad together with the free app offers a lower cost control solution, which makes it possible to include Kaleidescape in projects with smaller budgets.

Company Info

The concept for Kaleidescape was born in early 2001, just after Michael Malcolm had a state-of-the art theater installed in his Colorado home. A small group of seasoned Silicon Valley entrepreneurs brainstormed the best way to serve up a rich cinematic experience in the home.

Kaleidescape’s founders began to research everything they could about the motion picture business, licensing, and the technology of digital audio and video to bring their audacious goal to life. This led to their design of the Kaleidescape architecture, several innovative hardware appliances, and the purpose-built software for these products known as KEAOS — the Kaleidescape Entertainment Appliance Operating System.

“At the outset we realized the Internet would eventually be the delivery vehicle for movies. But we also realized that practical Internet delivery of high definition movies would be a long time coming, and shiny discs would need to suffice until then,” says Malcolm. “After considerable study we discovered that with carefully designed hardware and software we could build a legal system that enables customers to copy their movies to hard disks for immediate playback anywhere in the home. This discovery led to the first Kaleidescape System which we introduced in 2003.”

Today, the Kaleidescape experience is unrivaled. The company is known for its unwavering dedication to quality, innovation and customer service, and its unique movie server architecture. Kaleidescape Systems are installed in the finest homes and yachts around the globe. The company has also built and maintains one of the largest and most complete databases of information describing movies and music.

“Technology and innovation are at the heart of Kaleidescape,” notes Cheena Srinivasan, founder and executive vice president. “But our real satisfaction comes from seeing the impact we have on our customers’ lives. They enjoy more time with their families, reconnect with their favorite movies and music, and truly enjoy their content throughout their homes.”

Headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, with research and development by Kaleidescape Canada, Inc., based in Waterloo, Ontario, Kaleidescape’s award-winning products can be purchased around the world through its network of custom-installation dealers and distributors.
