This refrigerator incorporates LG’s Smart ThinQ® technology which offers customized convenience and flexible ways to control energy use.

Unique to this model is the new Smart Manager food system which transforms the refrigerator into a complete food management system. Consumers can check what’s in their refrigerator or see what food items such as milk and eggs may be expiring from the refrigerator’s LCD panel or on their smartphone, thanks to LG’s Smart Access feature. The Smart Manager also includes the Health Manager feature which lets each family member store a custom profile in the fridge including details such as dietary restrictions or weight loss goals. The fridge may suggest shopping lists and recipes suitable to a person’s physical condition, which proves particularly useful for consumers with medical conditions that may require special diets such as diabetes or food allergies. Smart Shopping is another new aspect of the Smart Manager feature which offers online grocery shopping directly from the refrigerator’s LCD panel or smartphone. This eliminates the hassle of having to write down shopping lists or even the need to visit the grocery store.

The refrigerator is also able to automatically readjust its temperature and function settings to take advantage of optimum energy rates on a daily basis called the Smart Saving feature, allowing the refrigerator to use less energy when not being used for extended periods of time. LG’s smart refrigerator offers two modes including “Night Saving Mode,” which reduces energy consumption for up to four hours at nighttime, and “Customize Saving Mode,” which lowers energy use during periods pre-set by the user.
