LG’s ultra-efficient French-door refrigerator features a host of innovations that help consumers save money. Of particular note is the refrigerator’s unique linear compressor. Typically, the compressor in a refrigerator accounts for up to 90 percent of the unit’s energy consumption. This new model features LG’s redesigned compressor to maximize energy efficiency. Typically, the compressor is either running at full power or off completely, but LG’s Linear Compressor can vary output depending on need so when it senses a small temperature change it can regulate it without being on full power. For example, if someone leaves the door open to put away the groceries and the refrigerator experiences a sudden drop in temperature, the compressor will switch to the necessary output to get back to the desired temperature. Because of this, there are fewer temperature swings, which means it uses less energy and saves money. On a more technical level, conventional compressors need a rod and an eccentric axis to push the piston resulting in four separate friction points. The LG Linear Compressor drives the piston directly, resulting in only one friction point. Fewer moving parts, means less friction and more energy saved, resulting in greater efficiency and durability. Additionally, LG has made innovations to the refrigerator’s insulation, which on model LFC25776ST is 23 percent thinner than previous LG models. With the slimmest and most effective insulation LG has ever made, this model offers consumers the benefits of expanded refrigerator capacity and the ability to store more foods, without sacrificing energy efficiency. The interior LED lighting also saves energy, because LED loses far less energy to heat than older methods using conventional light bulbs. Typical Incandescent bulbs last 750 hours, while LED can last up to 30,000 hours—another benefit to consumers. The interior LED lighting not only saves energy, but also provides a sleek, modern style ensuring the refrigerator looks as good on the inside as it does the outside.

Features

With the advanced energy savings provided by LG's redesigned Linear Compressor, this refrigerator earned the new and coveted --ENERGY STA -- Most Efficient 201-- designation per a new initiative by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). This new designation recognizes the most energy-efficient products in their categories among those that have earned the ENERGY STAR label. The Most Efficient recognition represents approximately the top five percent of products in their respective categories, demonstrating exceptional and cutting-edge efficiency performance. Most Efficient also continues ENERGY STAR's work to provide the best energy- efficient information for saving energy and money, and protecting the climate. This LG refrigerator achieved the new designation as a direct result of the savings provided by LG's new Linear Compressor.

Benefits

With LG's redesigned compressor this model maximizes energy efficiency with new features and innovations that help consumers be environmentally-conscious with their product choices without having to sacrifice additional convenience features and performance. With fewer moving parts and varied energy output this refrigerator is ENERGY STAR rated, exceeding government standards by 30 percent. Moreover, it can save consumers eight to 17 percent in energy usage compared to previous models with conventional compressors. In fact, according to the EPA, the annual operating cost for this refrigerator is only $45. Conventional compressors maintain much higher, disrupting noise levels throughout a cooling cycle with decibel levels peaking at both the beginning and end of a cycle. Combine fewer moving parts with LG's exclusive soft start regulatory system and the result is quieter all-around performance. The average U.S. household wastes $500 annually as a result of spoiled food. And one of the main reasons food spoils is because of uneven temperature levels inside the refrigerator. This model includes LG's Smart Cooling Plus system, designed to help keep food fresher longer. The system is driven by key technologies including LG's Linear Compressor and Dual Evaporators which react quickly to temperature fluctuation and humidity changes to rebalance the refrigerator's internal atmosphere.
