Out of Sight

Yes, it’s possible to have a theater designed and built without anyone coming to your house. First Impressions Theme Theatres, North Miami, Fla., was able to accomplish this task through numerous emails and phone calls with the owner of the then unfinished basement. Per the owner’s request, the theater follows a classic, old-world theme, which sets the tone beautifully for the powerful A/V system that supplies the entertainment. Installed by Sound Components, South Miami, Fla., a Sim2 Crystal Cube video projector fires video, including 3D content, onto a CinemaScope-format Vutec screen. The audio comes courtesy of seven Paradigm speakers and two subwoofers, all of which were built into the walls to blend in with the architecture. To ensure that nothing would interfere with the crystal clear audio, a Noise-Loc door was installed, the floor “floats,” and the walls were stuffed with sound absorbing materials.
