Leave the Sonys and Philips. Buy an Onkyo 3400 if you can shell out 25K.
Within 15K Logitech z906 is recommended. It has digital inputs and is THX certified.

Look for important features included in the receiver. I will suggest you to go with Yamaha RX-V465, It’s sound quality is superb and also it comes in economy range so you can afford it.
