I don’t know much about the wiring to reduce energy cost per month but what I can suggest is using LED solar powered lights for your garden. At least that way you can keep your garden illuminated all night without spending much as you’ll only buy the lights once. Solar panels energy consumption may cost a lot but it’s great in long run.

Data from the U.S. Department of Energy suggests that heating and cooling are the largest energy expenses in most homes across the U.S. Homeowners are looking for ways to reduce their energy usage and save on their utility bills. Nice remodeling trends and tips :)

At home, I generally use appliances that have high Energy Star ratings (http://www.energystar.gov/) because they are assured to be energy efficient. I have also had my house audited and assessed (http://energy.gov/articles/home-energy-audits-making-homes-more-energy-efficient-and-comfortable and https://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?fuseaction=HOME_ENERGY_YARDSTICK.showGetStarted). As for lights, I have tried Ikea and Illustra Lighting’s LED lights (http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/categories/departments/living_room/20515/ and http://www.illustralighting.com/).
