Luvenia asks:

Our house was built in the late 80’s and we installed a unity home automation system. The company is gone, but is there anything available comparable to their system? We like the fact that we can control temperatures in every room especially that we are now empty nesters.

CE Pro’s Julie Jacobson says:

Unity Systems and its founder Tom Riley produced arguably the first good home automation system. We hear from readers all the time that their systems keep on ticking after decades.

Certainly there are excellent and affordable modern-day systems that have the functionality you need. [links]

However, I suggest you start with a couple of dealers who still service Unity Systems. They might be able to tell you if your Unity Home Manager can be salvaged or if you can build on some of the existing components.

Yeah, I think you can find a lot of service providers that would help you with that.

I still maintain a few Unity System here in florida and have not found anything that does everything the Unity system does, especially the heating and cooling.

The Home Manager’s HVAC control was great. We also service and maintain home manager systems across the US. When it comes time to replace them we usually harness the power of the original home manager’s HVAC system. Give Gene Jordan at The HomeWorks Group a call if you’d like more information or check us out online at http://TheHomeWorksGroup.com

I’m attaching a screen shot of one of our climate control screen if anyone’s curious how far we’ve come in the past 25 years. :P

Where is your location? home automation had been really popular these days so it won’t be too hard for you to find another company that offers such kind of service.
