How Good are In-Ceiling Speakers?

Question: What home theater system uses quality “in ceiling” rear speakers? I am
installing a 60-inch Flatscreen and I have pre-wired the house for 2 front
speakers and 2 overhead.

Answer: In an ideal world speakers would be freestanding in-wall or on-wall mounted, but that’s not always possible.

With that said all of today’s modern in-ceiling speakers have been designed for use for in-ceiling applications. There’s no escaping the fact that sound is still coming from overhead, but these products are generally designed to disperse sound towards a room’s seating area with a wide soundstage.

Given that the speakers in your setup will be rear surrounds the directionality of where the audio is coming from is less of an issue than it is when it’s front left, center and right speakers.

You should be fine with no matter what speaker you choose.

Hi Ron, I don’t own any architectural (in-wall/in-ceiling speakers), but I have heard many of these products over the years from many of the industry’s top manufacturers.
