There are many new turntable options available today, what are some of the top entry level turntable products for someone new to the vinyl format?

You are correct, there are many nice turntable products available today that are affordable and easy to set up. For beginners a good place to start is the Music Hall USB-1 ($250), the Audio Technica ATLP120 for about $220, and the Denon DP-200 USB ($250). All three of these tables incorporate phono preamp with USB provisions, which mean you can connect them to your receiver and computer to make digital copies of your music without an added phono preamp.

Stepping up a level, there are products like the Pro-Ject Essential ($275), the Thorens TD-158 ($300) and the Rega RP-1($450).

With these products you’ll need an external phono preamp and when looking at the phono preamp category a good place to begin includes the Cambridge Audio 540P ($100) and the Bellari VP-29 ($80).
