There are so many different options for cool home electronics these days. After all, the Electronic House is made up of security, lighting, audio, video, HVAC, and much more. How can you keep track of it all?
There are plenty of remote control products out there, but if you want to reserve that money for more gadgets, check out Yonomi. This free option can bring a lot of your cool home electronics together under one app.
Currently available for both iOS and: Android users, Yonomi uses cloud technology to connect to everything in the home. It doesn’t just allow control over those electronic devices, but also gets them to work together. It’s sort of like IFTTT (“If This Then That”), allowing users to create automation recipes using different devices in the home.
However, the Yonomi is a bit limited in what it can connect to and control. The company lists support for Sonos, Nest, Philips Hue, August, Jawbone, Wink, Wemo and others, but recently added the Rest Devices Mimo baby monitor, the Notion multisensor, the Switchmate lighting device, and the Emberlight socket. Hopefully, they will continue to add smart home systems and cool home electronics on a regular basis.
According to the company, Yonomi can connect to select IP devices, as well as gadgets using Bluetooth. The company also plans to add support for Apple HomeKit, Weave and AllJoyn.
For now though, you should be able to do some pretty cool things with the devices and technologies that Yonomi does support. For instance, if the baby monitor senses that little one stirring in the middle of the night, the Yonomi can trigger a Sonos speaker to play lullabies or white noise. Another option is that when the Switchmate detects you walking into a room, the Yonomi will trigger the Quirky Aros air conditioner. Despite not being endless, there are still plenty of interesting possibilities.
“We’ve always wanted to focus on the connected devices and automated routines that can most impact people’s lives,” says Kent Dickson, co-founder and CEO of Yonomi. “As a parent myself, I think that devices like Mimo and Notion plus Yonomi is going to really ease the minds of parents.”
The Yonomi app is available now, as a free download in iTunes and the: Google Play Store.
