Samsung’s WW9000 Washing Machine Uses a Smartphone for Laundry Control

Home automation comes to the laundry room.

We’re seeing the smartphone take over, from a home control standpoint. Now, it’s ready to tackle one of your toughest chores: laundry.

According to Pocket-lint, Samsung will soon release the WW900, a smartphone-enabled washing machine.

Unfortunately, it does not monitor shrinkage or alert you when that random red sock makes it into your whites. However, it will allow users to pause or start the laundry, as well as find out how much time is left in the cycle.

The new features have been dubbed “Smart Control,” which shouldn’t be confused with Samsung’s previous “Smart Check” options. The latter is a previously released diagnostic utility.

Other features on the WW9000 include a 5-inch color touchscreen, as well as Favorites and Most Used options that will remember some of your preferred speeds, temperatures and cycles.

While Samsung has yet to announce pricing on the WW9000, it is expected to ship sometime in May 2014.
