Insteon Starts Selling Smart Home Kits and Devices Through Microsoft Stores

The new options are now available at all Microsoft retail stores.

The Insteon Home Kit.

Back in May, Insteon announced plans to start selling some of the company’s connected home products in Microsoft retail stores. Now, they’re actually available.

Microsoft stores now have five different Insteon devices available for purchase, as well as three “kits.” The stand-alone offerings include the Insteon Leak Sensor ($34.99), the Open/Close Sensor ($34.99), the LED Bulb ($29.99), the On/Off Module ($49.99), and the Wireless Wi-Fi Camera ($79.99).

If you’re looking for something more complete, there are three Insteon kits available. The Starter Kit allows for live video, motion detection, and control of up to two lights or appliances. Priced at $199.99, it includes the Insteon Hub, one On/Off module, one motion sensor, and one Wi-Fi camera.

The Home Kit sells for $299.99 and comes with the Insteon Hub, the On/Off module, the motion sensor and the Wi-Fi camera, as well as an Open/Close sensor and a thermostat. This allows users to remotely control devices, set a thermostat, and get alerts when doors and windows open or close.

And finally, the Business Kit has the Insteon Hub, one On/Off module, two motion sensors, two Open/Close sensors, three Leak sensors, one thermostat, and two Wi-Fi cameras packaged up for $499.99. Designed to provide a peek at your business after-hours, this also allows users to set lighting schedules.

“Since launching Insteon on, we have seen a lot of interest from Microsoft customers in our connected products,” said Joe Dada, CEO of Insteon. “Now that we are making those same products available to Microsoft retail customers, we are confident that our products will be equally as popular in stores.”

According to Insteon, trained Microsoft employees will be on-hand in stores to help customers with questions about the products and the setup process. Insteon is easy to set up and use thanks to dual-band technology, which uses your existing powerlines and radio-frequency (RF) communication. Also worth noting is that Insteon’s free app works with Windows Phone and Windows 8.1 products and does not require any monthly fees.
